oooh I do have one of her books from when we went over in Feb. Will have a look tonight and see if there is a mention of it. She had them all available when she came to visit but I just wanted one particular copy which had the tale of this girl who went back in time during a great storm on the island so I only bought the one but it has lots of other tales in it so may well have Osbourne house to. We are going camping over there this year so that goingto be an experience and a ahalf for me, not done a night under canvas since I was a scout

Well I have dug my book out by Gay Baldwin and it is book Six which has a whole chapter dedicated to Osborne house. The good news is Queen Victoria is there Staff have reported smelling Jasmine, her favourite perfume at the bottom of the stairs. This was reported by a number of visitors but only now and then so it was not all the time. In the Queens bedroom Orange Blossom, another of the Queens scents would fill the room. People would comment on what an amazing air freshner it was, though there was none. Again this happened 4 times to one member of staff who worked there 13 years. They would go in the morning to open the doors and drapes and would announce the Queen is here upon smelling the scent. The room was supposed to have great presence when she visited. Though no one has ever seen her spirit she does seem to go back there. One member of staff reports she felt a hand rest firmly on her shoulder one day, she turned around and trhere was no one there. Thats my summary of what the book says about Queen Victoria but it does go on about a number of other ghosts at the house as well.

That's interesting Spooky. Her bedroom is a lovely room, although the photo above the bed of Albert lying In State is a bit gloomy. Would you want a photo/picture of your dead husband hanging over your bed! (it was there when she was still living at Osborne!)

Hi Osborne really is a nice old house isnt it. We had a great day there despite the rain.
Carisbrooke Castle was also very impressive and in good shape considering its age.
Last year it was a tour of NT houses now we got the EH card we are on a mission there. The South West next week ;D

Yeah Queen Vic haunts Osborne House... interesting note is that it was never bombed by the Luftwaffe in WWII because (supposedly) Hitler wanted it as his summer house when he'd won the war... likewise the Midland Hotel in Manchester was going to be the Gestapo UK headquarters and so was never hit... though with that one its probably a myth, Osborne however may be true.
The Devil.
