Sounds like a good plan. Its about an hours drive from here so we can set off about 1pm.
That way we get to sleep in as well.

Great Teresa and I will probably leave here about 1 ish too.... we'll go via the scenic route......... A32............. Hope it's not raining............ So who else is going then?? I've actually dowsed the construction dates from photos I took in Feb............ I won't let on what I got.... and as I've forgotten I won't look it up and cheat.... but it did tie in with Beaulieu abbey which apparantly was built first..... will be intesting to see what Teresa & I get when we are there.......... Looking forward to it

I don't know a thing about the abbey, so it'll be interesting to see if I can pick up anything when I'm there

Is Simon coming? Does he know? I know he has been on here recently but might be worth running it his way as well. You know what he is like about Abbeys.... ;D

I could ask him or you could - but what's the best way to contact him - his forum's pretty dead at the moment!

Ok seems we have to sorted a day and time for Netley Abbey so I thought it would be a good idea to check it was actually open over the Xmas period. I called the number from the link put on this thread and I am just getting answer machine. I rang English Heritage in Guildford and they looked in their handbook and it doesn't say anything about it not being open over Xmas but said it was best to call the site direct and gave me the same number I've been calling. I'll keep calling and keep you all posted once I can confirm if its definately open or not.
