Hi folkes, just joined the site. Does anyone have a list of various places between Newbury and Southampton that are open to the general public at night time. Obviously don't want to get in trouble for trespassing. Tangemere Airfield sounds good, but does anyone know of any others please ? many thanks

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
First one that springs to mind for me is Donnington Castle. Its is supposedly haunted by a cavalier who guards the tower and a large dog that runs up and down the path to the castle plus other sightings etc.
The main gate is closed to cars after 6pm or something but the footpath is open 24/7 for those on foot I am told but worth checking before hand if your traveling far. Its on our to do list as well...

A good site we have used in the past is : www.castlexplorer.co.uk/england/donnington/donnington_info.php#mainIts quite handy for finding old earth works etc that arent obviously castles anymore but have ghost stories etc attached to the areas. A lot fo them like Odiham castle are available 24/7 as well and well away from the public so not too much noise pollution etc.

Hello firefly,
Although Netley Abbey near Southampton is closed to visitors overnight, this place seems to be open to pedestrians:
Netley Hospital near Royal Victoria Country Park, Netley: A Grey Lady has been seen in the park by countless frightened walkers. Said to be the ghost of a young nurse who committed suicide after accidentally killing a patient.
