Hi everyone concerned, I've posted my report on the Chanctonbury Ring on the PF site & Steven is putting it on the diary section here. Though Chanctonbury Ring it is a nice place to visit, all who attended on the day felt that it wasn't really suitable for vigil on the 31/7/04. We would all still like to do something on the 31st, so any suggestions would be most welcome ;D

Hey peeps.
I have to agree with you... WA is getting a little boring. But the question has to be raised. Where are we gonna be when the next full moon comes round? Lets put our heads together!!!
Martin.

Hi all, I posted this on PF after Martin mentioned the Lawday House site near where he lives:
Lawday House site could be interesting, also I have a map which shows the locations of cottages no the common over the road from here, some of my ancestors lived there. They were demolished when the land was sold to the army c1856 and the people were rehoused. You can still see some of the foundations and stonework from the cottages, I don't know if there is any activity there but people lived and died there so its possible. They are at the base of Caesar's Camp which is an iron age fort, and also marked on the map are an old brick works and a cholera burial ground which sounds interesting. I think this could be interesting if we combined the Lawday House site with this area of the common, I'd be up for it as I have a family connection with the area. Also I wonder if the monk has anything to do with the Bishop of Winchester who sold the land to the army? I like this idea cos its Farnham related too. If you like some of us could go over to the common and I could show you where these places are, they are all reasonably close to Lawday Link. Simon.

I have heard rumours of ghosts and Roman centurions being seen etc from the common over the years so I think its a valid spot. Didnt some guy find some Roman coins there in the 80's? So Im up for it and its local to as Simon pointed out, this time its personal.

I cant be bothered... Its all on PF!!!
It might not be such a good location for a full moon as there is only a handfull of activity, although there has been a recent sighting.

Steven do you have any more details of the Roman ghosts on the common, I haven't heard of this before! No major hill's Sam, I don't know if its possible to go wandering over there at night as its army land but the public are allowed to walk over there so I guess it would be OK!
Like the new quick guide bit, very flattered that you have PF as a top link ;D

Simon,
It was just rumours but I do recall a regional TV news show like south today was covering the find of some Roman coins or was it a sword in the early 90's on the common and in that piece Im sure they mentioned sightings of a Roman Soldier or soldiers being seen on the common. It was a while back and could be fabircation on behalf of the show.
Maybe we can ask the Farnham Tour Guy???
