There you go thats why. Im guessing it was the one with the curly haired bloke who took over from DD as that was in a kind of tunnel system as I recall.
Still looking for a way in though....

I just checked the DVD for this one and we walked straight past it. You remember the wall that was where the old school was that had "Girls and Infants" written above the door and another that had "Head Mistress" or somehting on it, the remains of the house of detention is in there. There was no way we would have found it as there is no sign posts nothing.
Now the challenge is to find out who owns it now and get us in there...... There was a rumour that it was turned into a snooker hall but there was no sign of that when we were up there. So chances are its just sitting there in the dark all sealed up festering and stewing waiting for us.

So we were probably walking right over the top it ! We'll have to do a bit of detective work now to try & get in there.

Definitely were on top of it. In the opening mins of MH just after the map they show the cameras running down the road, it then turns left into the school doorway and its down some steps and then right into the basement. The place looks like a bomb site but at least we know now there is no Snooker hall or flats built on top of the entrance and it should be still intact. We'll take steps next time and go over the wall. ;D

Paul just found these directions if your ever up that way agai they may help :
From the Green go into Clerkenwell Close and follow this through. . On the left Oliver's old-established shop was next to the Three Kings pub (notice the unusual sign - can you identify the three kings? - answer at the end). The Papier Marche shop opposite sells local publications. St James's Church was built by James Carr in 1788-92 to replace a nunnery church that had been used by the parish since the Dissolution. Further along there are Peabody flats to the left. The Hugh Myddleton School building, now converted into flats, stands on the site of the Clerkenwell House of Detention, whose cells remain below.

Yahoo travel still lists the House of Detention as a museum which you pay £4 to get in. Am I right in saying that this isnt the case anymore. If so, what happened with it?
Cheers.

Hi and welcome to the forum,
A lot of the websites we have checked out seem to be well out of date.
The phone numbers listed are now all unobtainable and on our last visit to the site the school doors were still there but there was no sign of a museum or indication it was ever there.
The rumour is the site was closed shortly before MH visited then sold off to a developer who was supposedly going to turn it into a snooker or pool club. Though none of this seems to have happened and as far as we could see last month the site seems untouched. Which seems such a shame for such an interesting and active venue.
