Okay dont know if its haunted but here we go : Midhurst Castle is a Norman stone keep and courtyard fortress, founded by Roger of Montgomery. The large oval ringwork is encased by a strong curtain wall, with a small break to indicate the site of the gateway. Inside are the remains of a keep, a chapel and a range of buildings but sadly since being abandoned for a new site called la Coudraye in the late 13th century, all the walls have been reduced to foundation level. www.castleuk.net/castle_lists_south/197/midhurstcastle.htmThe access is good as there is a car park and toilets right at the bottom of the footpath.

Spooky I have seen this place and I think I am correct is stating that it is private property belonging to the Cowdray family who own most of the property in the surounding area. Easily seen as they all have doors/windows painted in yellow. They probably own Midhurst Castle too. (Posting this into the linked posting called "Cowdray House, Midhurst)

Cool I know it was owned by a private family but they have open days and there is a great site out there, link escapes me, that tells the history and has drwaings of how it looked.

I think it was Cowdray House that I visited. It used to have a very small exhibition. However the near-by "Spread Eagle" hotel/bar does have some suits of armour in it corridors. Probably nothing to follow up by us but they look good.
