Thought I'd just mention this, (what seems to be), not that well known haunted location, which I've been dying to do an investigation of for a while.
Tangmere was a Battle of Britain Airfield, being Douglas Bader's base for a while (the local, supposedly haunted pub being named after him), not far from Chichester. Other investigation groups have reported seeing the figures of uniformed airmen walking across the (partly) still intact runway, and activity has also been reported around the disused, boarded-up control tower. There is also a hanger which is meant to be haunted. Luckily, most of the runway and control tower are accessible to the public at all times, due to a public footpath running across some of the airfield. One interesting point is that when travellers were illegally camped on the runway a year or so ago, they were so disturbed by the sound of planes (Spitfires?) taking off and landing at night, that they rapidly moved on! Worthy of an investigation at some point!

Thanks Spooky When I originally went there the control tower wasn't boarded up, but due to kids getting in etc, it is now. There was one hell of an atmosphere there when I last visited. I always think places like that are sure to have many a spirit walking about - although probably not as active as RAF Hemswell etc.

Perhaps we should arrange a visit then! I've always been fascinated by WW2 sites and any ghosts connected with them

Anyone fancy a visit on the 15th?
Im thinking we could do the museum in the afternoon, if its open, then maybe spend some time at the airfield later on after sunset?

There seems to be unrestricted access to the airfield (most of it anyway, some of it has crops growing on it!) and you can get to the control tower. Suppose it depends on whether people want to go to the museum as well - it's quite interesting, although smallish. I suppose if we did go when the museum was closed we could always combine it with visiting somewhere else in the area as well, to make the journey worthwhile. I'm not fussed either way

Sounds good. I am going on the 15th for sure. There is somewhere in Midhurst I have been interested in having a look at which is enroute so maybe we could combine that.

I'm OK for 15th - have visited the museum twice before anyway - I'll ask Sue if she can make it!
