As you know Paul and I went to what is reputably the most haunted castle in England (or Britain not sure) back in June. Anyway since then I have had a few hours of footage sitting on my hard drive waiting to be sifted through and well to cut a long story short my favourite Aussie songstress was round the other evening and we got talking about the footage and well one thing lead to another and we came up with this little teaser trailer. For those who dont know Margaret Pomeroy is the name of the lady or white lady who is seen walking along the rampart walls at the castle.
Margaret was unfortunate to fall for the same man Eleanor her elder sister was also in love with.
Eleanor, who was left in charge of the family estate whilst her Father was fighting for the King, being jealous of her younger sisters good looks took it upon herself to imprison young Margaret in one of the guard towers at the castel where she would not be able to see her man. This make shift prison was to be poor Margarets home for two decades until she was finaly allowed to starve to death at her own request to her sister.
I have been in this cell or room and its no more than 12 foot in diameter and would have been full of rats and spiders and totaly exposed to the elements during the winter months. There is a tiny cupboard which I am certain she would have crawled into at night.
Its hard to imagine the mental anguish this poor woman went through for all those years and its no wonder that reports of her sightings are said to send people mental or to there deaths as she beckons. It also supports the stone tape theory as the castle is obvioulsy made of stone and if you ever visit the cell there is no mistaking she is still there.
The tower is known as St Margarets tower which seems quite fitting and I wonder if it was always called that.
