Yahoo travel still lists the House of Detention as a museum which you pay £4 to get in. Am I right in saying that this isnt the case anymore. If so, what happened with it?
Cheers.

Hi and welcome to the forum,
A lot of the websites we have checked out seem to be well out of date.
The phone numbers listed are now all unobtainable and on our last visit to the site the school doors were still there but there was no sign of a museum or indication it was ever there.
The rumour is the site was closed shortly before MH visited then sold off to a developer who was supposedly going to turn it into a snooker or pool club. Though none of this seems to have happened and as far as we could see last month the site seems untouched. Which seems such a shame for such an interesting and active venue.

Thanks alot for the welcome, and for the info. Much appriciated.
Saw the place on Most Haunted ages ago but i've only just heard news that it had been shut down a couple of days ago. Its typical really, as I was planning on making a trip down there in a couple of weeks. I guess i'll just do the hell fire caves instead. Thanx again.

No worries glad to help. Youll love the caves by the way. If you can though go in the week as the staff have said to us in the past if you ask nicely they will turn the music and history tapes off which makes it 100 times more enjoyable being down there. The tapes can make you want to bite your own ears off after 20 minutes or so.... Steven
