When I was younger I had a girlfriend who lived down this road in one of the many semidetached houses. I always noticed that the house was always cold or cool no matter how hot it got during the summer. This could be down to design as it was solid concrete but worth mentioning.
One day when there was nobody in the house we were sitting in the bedroom chatting, as teenagers do, when there was a grumbling voice right by the bedroom door. Very loud and deep but no discernable words. Like some old man just muttering madly.
We both jumped out of our skins and pulled open the door. There was nobody there and still nobody in the house with the front door still locked so no one had come in since we had arrived.
This spooked us a little as it was very loud and very clear and she went on to tell me about how they were all in the lounge one evening and an almighty thump came from the room upstairs. They ran up and nothing had moved or fallen over. Just a loud thump like something big and heavy landing on the floor.
Also the brother had seen an old man sitting in the 2nd bedroom in a chair in the corner quite often.
The houses must have been constructed in the fifties so not that old but the story or local legend goes that this area of Farnborough was constructed on a saxon or equivalant burial ground. This has yet to be confirmed but its not that far from the old centre of Farnborough so if the town had grown up from that point it could well be true.
