First person to say they have a steering wheel stuck down their trousers and its driving them nuts is banned ;D Just a question I was wondering the other day. As a believer I enjoy the interaction and seeing the proof but I dont know if I could still class it as investigation. Thats more like looking for something and if you beleive then you know its there so does it still need investigation? I can understand what fuels the non beleivers as they think we are all nuts and want us to see sense, fat chance ha ha, but surely do we still have to sit in the dark in some dank old cellar to keep that level of interest up when they are quite happy to come and join us in broad daylight for a cup of tea. Sure the dodgey and more active ones probably are in all the miserable places but sometimes if you ask nicely the friendly ones are just as obliging. So what makes you, the forum member, want to investigate these places? Is it the history? Or the spookyness of it all?

That's a good question! I think a lot of people just like being scared to be honest! A case of "look how brave I am, I'm going ghost hunting!" But that's not the case with me as I don't seem to get spooked easily! But of course there are plenty of serious investigators that I guess want just that little bit more proof all the time...but like you say, you don't have to spend the night in a dank cellar to do that ;D For me I think it's linked with the history of the building...after all history and ghosts must go together But then again the most activity I have experienced has been in my family home, so it's round there for tea is it? ;D

i think for me it's a case of i believe i experienced some very odd things as a child
so i keep going to to see if it was real that ghosts do exist or was it just childish imagination as i was told it was

Jules, I think the grown ups have a lot to answer for when they tell kids its their imagination. Probably why most people are so closed down today. Its learned behaviour at its worst.

i changed that negativety when i had my own children
i have always been open to things they have told me i have always listen as has my hubbyn and talked about what they have heard or seen
in later life i did speak to my mum about the things that happened, and she said she had also experienced some of the same things around our home
i suppose it was a case of she couldn't do anything about it so we didn't discuss it

I'm not sure that theres one specific thing that drives me. The fear factor at first kept me going. To prove I wasn't scared of the dark and ghosties. The first lone vigil Geoff and I attempted ended in us running across a field back to the car I think now though that I do look for proof that there is existence in some form that does continue on after our physical bodies die. When I'm are sitting in vigils and I'm getting names, messages and images popping into my head I use to think it was just my imagination making stuff up and was always afraid to speak up in case people thought I was mad. Then I went with Steven a few times to spiritualist church where we were encouraged to connect with spirit and we found we were actually doing it, though sometimes we were getting a spirit for a different person in the circle then we were asked to. I don't think we can pick and choose who we connect with. I believe an energy steps forward and wants to make a connection with who ever they feel comfortable with. I feel a connection with history and the people that have been part of it when we connect with a spirit and for a brief moment that spirit or energy of the person who has passed over is able to make themselves known. Not only have I found that we could receive spirit while at the church, we also have been able to do so at vigil and have be able to have confirmation on what we have picked up either through the historical facts or other groups getting the same information. I still get a buzz when this happens because just for that moment in time that person lives again and can tell his or hers story and can make a connection again with humanity. I know that sounds soppy but I don't care. I feel a part of something bigger and greater now.

Thats really nicely put Sam The episode of Dr Who sprung to mind when I read that, when they went back and met Charles Dickens and that even though he died the following year, for that moment in time he was alive again.
