Very interesting site.
Somebody experienced a full on manifestation which turned out to be linked to the Duchess of Cleveland. This was interesting as no one was aware of the Duchess and we had to get this verified by the guys from English Herirtage.
Also in the crypt footsteps and shuffling in the grass were heard by two teams. We also connected with a lady dressed in what appeared to be a Tudor style corset and dress called Annabel on the stairs to the crypt.
The rest of the place definitley had an atmosphere about it which may or may not have been aided by the many picturtes depicting the great battle that took place here in 1066.
Definitely somewhere I would go back and visit in the day tyime one day.

Battle Abbey 30/04/05 Sam and I were given the chance to investigate part of the site of such a large piece of English history. There isn't a school boy or girl who hasn't heard of the famous battle of Hastings in 1066. So we set off with high expectations after reading about sightings of a fountain of blood, Monks being seen in the Abbey and poor old King Harold strolling around with an arrow in his eye. First off ghosts or no ghosts there is no denying the site is a beautiful piece of architecture and one I have promised myself a day time visit to in the future. The grounds consist of different areas dotted around the grounds. On the night we investigated the museum, the remains of the crypt, the edge of what remains of the battlefield, the Abbey ruins, the ice house and the dairy room. Unfortunately I only experienced anything I could describe as unexplainable in the old crypt area. The other places were dark and eerie but personally I didn't pick up or connect with any spirits/ghosts or see/experience anything out of the ordinary. A lot of the teams said they did and during one of my vigils one member said she had seen a full on apparition of a woman in a dress what was walking toward her. John, the medium for the night, even went as far as to give this spirit a name and this was later confirmed with a little research by the English Heritage guys as being one of the previous families that lived here. So amazing stuff for the investigation as a whole. So back to the crypt. During our vigil stones were thrown against what remained of the wall in response to members of the team calling out. Though we all heard a dress rustling through the grass which even caused one of the team to run up the stairs and I believe the spirit repeated this again later during Sam's vigil causing one of her team to hit the deck after colliding with someone in a hurry to get out. Thankfully no one was hurt but I did connect with a woman on the stairs dressed in quite fine robes and corset by the name of Annabel. The temperature was a lot lower in this area and using dowsing rods she was happy to communicate with the team. We discovered she had passed in the 1500's and we all felt she had been murdered by a stabbing to just below her heart. There was I also felt a negative energy in the Museum that seemed to pick members of the team off one at a time by intimidating them. I got no information from him that night about who he was etc and he seemed quite happy scaring the proverbial out of my team so we spent the hour with him and moved on. That was about it for my night there, Sam and I did get spooked by one of the sign posts at one point as it had a hat on and was as tall as a person hiding in the woods but thats just the way we are sometimes.
